The Perse School
CPS partnered with Willmott Dixon for the recently completed Perse School Sports and Swimming Pool project. With CPS appointed on a design and build basis we developed the existing Stage 3 design to Stage 5 encompassing the mechanical and electrical services required for the facility. The facility was developed to allow students to start using the facility in September 2025. The new build has been designed with energy efficiency in mind with air source heat pumps the primary source of heating within the facility. Hot water is achieved through initial pre – heat from air source which deals with a substantial amount of heat input for temperature increase. The remainder of the hot water is achieved through gas boilers which will also providing redundancy to the heating and hot water systems in the event of any failure of the primary systems. The building functions under a programmed building management system. Electrically the installation benefits from a PV array, which CPS undertakes in house, feeding into the main distribution network of the School.
This project consists of a new sports facility with a new 25-meter, six lane swimming pool, four court sports hall, and climbing wall. During initial concept design there was a change to the planning specification to include a community use agreement allowing members of the public to use the facility outside of School hours and term times. The design was therefore developed to allow a ‘pay to play’ option, where the public/community can pay to use the facilities. With a proactive approach from our main contractor during the procurement period, Willmott Dixon placed early orders for key packages. This allowed CPS to develop the design, secure materials, fix costs, and safeguard the programme for the client.
Speaking of the completed project CPS & andwis Mechanical and Electrical CEO Liam Connelly said:
“I am extremely proud of the Perse School Leisure Centre project. Not only does the scheme represent a highly efficient, modern, carbon reduced M&E project, to deliver a project of this scale at a School with such prestige is a very proud moment for both myself and CPS as a business. The project was undertaken in a truly collaborative manner with Willmott Dixon and we hope the client is as pleased as we are with the end product. We see this particular project as a massive step in our growth within the leisure sector and demonstration of the ever increasing diversity CPS offers it’s valued clients”
We hope the Perse School and all local residents who use it enjoy this wonderful building.
