St Johns College – E Staircase
St Johns College forms part of perhaps the most famous and photographed view in Cambridge. Built in 1511 Its foundation charter, dated 9 April that year, was sealed by the executors of the foundress, Lady Margaret Beaufort mother of King Henry VII, it sits at the heart of the university campus as one of the oldest & largest colleges in Cambridge.
Staircase E is Grade I listed, so preserving the integrity of its buildings was our highest priority during the project. We began by carrying out
a detailed risk assessment, and set up a clear line of communication with the College to ensure that everyone was fully appraised of progress and any planned disruptions.
The project comprised of a complete Mechanical and Electrical refurbishment of the student accommodation and basement plant area.
