CPS Completes Cockroft Lecture Theatre
Estimated reading time 2 minutes
CPS were proud to recently achieve practical completion on the Cockroft Lecture Theatre at The New Museums Site partnering with SDC Builders Ltd of Bedford. The project was undertaken with strict deadlines for completion given that the lecture theatre is needed for the student’s return to their studies following their summer break.
The project was undertaken for the University’s Programme Board for Education Spaces and facilitated and managed by the University of Cambridge Estates Division.
Specific to the mechanical and electrical services on the project CPS Building Services installed a new bespoke air handling unit which, given the constraints of the site, had to be dismantled into sections smaller than a door frame to be installed. The project was made even more complex by enabling works which had to take place during term time all while the facility remained operational. A challenge in it’s own right!
Electrically the project has a highly intelligent lighting system adaptable for presentations and lectures within the facility. There is also a state-of-the-art audio-visual installation within the facility supplied by the University’s audio-visual specialists.
The completion of the works follows other successful projects completed over previous summers in the same building with SDC Builders Ltd.
Our overall client has been left with a cutting-edge lecture facility adaptable depending on the type of lecture being delivered. CPS, as a business, have proudly handed over another successfully completed project for the University.
