One Year in Oxford
Estimated reading time 4 minutes
This month marks one year since CPS Building Services opened its Oxford office, a milestone that reflects growth, commitment, and the strength of our team on the ground.
Expanding into Oxford was a strategic step in our long-term development as a leading M&E subcontractor. With its unique blend of heritage estates, innovative life science, commercial developments, and health care schemes, Oxford presents both technical challenge and opportunity, exactly the kind of environment where our expertise thrives.
A Strategic Decision
Our move into Oxford was driven by demand and ambition.
The region continues to experience sustained growth across education, healthcare, and life sciences. Influenced by world-leading institutions such as the University of Oxford and a thriving innovation ecosystem, the city has become a focal point for complex, high-specification construction.
We recognised the need for a dependable, technically capable M&E partner with the capacity to deliver on programme, maintain rigorous compliance standards, and integrate seamlessly with main contractor teams.
Establishing a local office enables us to do exactly that; providing faster response times, closer collaboration, and dedicated regional support.
A Word from Our CEO
“The vision for CPS was to use our extensive experience working in the Education, Healthcare and Life science sectors in Cambridge and utilise this in Oxford. Our expectations for year 1 have been more than surpassed and we are incredibly grateful for all the support we have been given from existing and new Clients.”
— Liam Connelly, CEO, CPS Building Services
Building the Foundations
Launching the Oxford office was about more than location, it was about capability.
From securing the right premises to mobilising experienced engineers and project managers, every decision was made with long-term delivery in mind. We focused on assembling a skilled, proactive team capable of supporting projects from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.
Like any successful build, it required coordination, expertise, and commitment. Within months, the office was fully operational and actively supporting projects across Oxfordshire and surrounding counties.
Reflections from Our First Oxford Hire
"My first year working for CPS as Electrical Project Manager in Oxford has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Joining CPS as the first Oxford based employee made it even more exciting, as it gave me the opportunity to help establish our presence in a new location.
Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of working with a fantastic team and playing a part in securing several prestigious contracts, which has been a great milestone for our growing Oxford operation.
I’m proud of what we’ve achieved so far and grateful for the support from colleagues across the business. I’m looking forward to building on this momentum and seeing what the next year brings."
— Marc Miller, Electrical Project Manager, Oxford Office
A Year of Delivery
In just twelve months, our Oxford team has been working on a wide range of mechanical and electrical packages, supporting main contractors and developers on projects of varying scale and complexity.
Over the past year we have:
- Secured a strong pipeline of works, taking us through to 2028.
- Expanded our regional engineering and project management team.
- Strengthened partnerships with contractors, consultants, and suppliers.
- Maintained our uncompromising focus on health, safety, and compliance.
- Reinforced our reputation for reliability, workmanship, and programme certainty.
What began as a strategic expansion has quickly become an integral part of our operations.
Being locally based allows us to collaborate more effectively, respond quickly to project needs, and provide first-hand technical support throughout every phase of delivery.
Looking Ahead
Reaching our first anniversary in Oxford is an important milestone, but it is only the beginning.
We remain committed to investing in our people, expanding our regional capability, and strengthening the relationships that have been central to our success so far. With continued development planned across the region, we are well positioned to support the next generation of commercial, education, life sciences, and residential projects.
The foundations are strong. The momentum is real. And our ambition for Oxford continues to grow.
Here’s to year two; and to building even more, together.
